Located in the heart of Cary, NC, Downtown Cary Park is a $70 million economic development initiative that anchors the region and attracts visitors and new residents to central North Carolina.
The park covers seven acres of green space and includes play structures, gardens, public art, a dog park, and multiple dining options. With PR support from our friends at French | West | Vaughan, we were excited to draw from our experience with other economic development website design projects and lead the project’s digital efforts from the start.
With the park positioned as a new focal point for Cary, it was important for the website to be exceptionally inviting and intuitive. The site needed to quickly establish a sense of place, explain the park’s role in the community, and present clear wayfinding mechanisms to guide users towards helpful content about planning a visit.
Mimicking the feel of the park itself, the design is bright and airy and encourages visitors to explore the park’s amenities, events, and activities. Visitors can begin planning an outing by engaging with custom features like an interactive map and a live events calendar, or browse informational resources like park news, project history and timeline, and reservation forms for groups. Behind the scenes, the site incorporates complex development features like a custom Salesforce integration with WordPress that pulls and feeds data into the park team’s primary database.
