Joel Sutherland - Founder, Partner, President
>Joel, an Omaha, NE native has been the President of NMC since 2006. Under his leadership the company has gone from a small startup to an award-winning full service web design, development and marketing firm that has launched over 400 websites. He served as lead developer on NMC's current content management system which powers millions of visits each year.
Joel's innovative techniques in JavaScript, jQuery, and CSS have been featured around the world in some of the most popular web design and development online publications. Joel is also one of the primary architects of the HiFi Web Publishing software. He helped lead the transition from NMC's original CMS to HiFi, the company's new powerful web publishing engine.
Outside of NMC, Joel sits on the board of UNC-Chapel Hill's Entrepreneurship minor and has lectured at UNC-Chapel Hill on Entrepreneurship and new media. Before NMC, he co-founded OpenPage Design, a successful company that built custom online tools for small organizations. Joel is an Honors graduate from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he majored in Computer Science and was a Morehead Scholar. Clay Schossow - Founder, Partner, Lead Project Manager
Clay, a Cleveland, OH native was one of the original founders of New Media Campaigns and has directed client relations and business development efforts since 2006. In these roles, Clay has helped NMC grow to an award-winning company with over 400 clients from around the world. Clay also leads NMC's Agency Partnership program, helping advertising agencies across the country leverage new media for their clients. Clay has been directly responsible for the online marketing, SEO, and social media efforts for organizations of all sizes around the world.
Clay has been quoted in publications around the country, such as Inc., Business Insider, and Fox News, on topics ranging from social media to politics and the internet to managing a virtual work place. He is a repeat guest lecturer at UNC-Chapel Hill's School of Journalism on the intersection of new media and traditional marketing.
Prior to NMC, Clay worked with political campaigns in Ohio, helping candidates leverage new media to spread their message. Kris Jordan - Founder, Partner, CTO
Kris, a native of Rutherfordton, NC, was one of the original founders of New Media Campaigns and guides the technical direction and process for the company. Kris's software has been used to manage the online presence and web marketing of organizations ranging from public corporations national non-profits, serving millions of page views each year.
Kris is the architect of the popular open source PHP Framework, Recess. The framework has been used by developers around the world to build applications; additionally, there are active contributors located around the world, continuing to enhance and expand the code base. Kris and his team used the Recess Framework when building NMC's newest CMS, HiFi.
Outside of NMC, Kris is an active member of the tech community. From continuing to contribute Recess to attending tech conferences around the country, Kris is always working with new developers and scouting for the next big things in web development.
Kris has been developing software commercially for over a decade and worked at Microsoft before returning to NMC to spearhead the development of Recess and HiFi. Kris is a graduate with Honors of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Computer Science, where he was recognized as the SAS Charles Dunham Scholar (“best and brightest”) by the faculty. Josh Lockhart - Sr. Developer, Lead Designer
Josh Lockhart is a front-end developer and lead designer at New Media Campaigns and has been at the company for over two years. As NMC’s Senior Developer and Lead Designer, Josh spearheads the development and design for many of our most advanced and highest profile client projects.
Josh maintains an unfaltering focus on following web standards and writing semantic markup, ensuring each of NMC’s sites is as accessible and scalable as possible. His work with HTML5, CSS3, jQuery, and JavaScript has been featured around the web, including in showcases of the best examples of modern web development. Recently, Josh has led the web development for the Rhodes Scholarships Trust, the North Carolina Community Foundation, Ronald McDonald House of North Carolina, national political campaigns, and dozens of other organizations from around the world.

Eli Van Zoeren - Developer, Designer
Eli grew up in Northern Michigan, where he taught himself to program in Visual Basic starting in middle school. Later, in high school, he switched to the Web, learning HTML and CSS. During college he took several Computer Science classes, but focused more on design and communication, earning a B.A. in Visual Communications from Beloit College in 2004. During this time, he also pursued a long-standing interest in photography, serving as photo editor for the school newspaper. Since graduation, Eli has worked on websites in a variety of roles, from freelance designer and developer to directing the marketing efforts of an educational non-profit.
As Eli’s job title at New Media Campaigns is front-end developer, he actually ends up doing a bit of everything: in addition to front-end markup and JavaScript, he works on CMS integration and build-out, website design, and back-end coding. Alongside his client work, Eli has contributed extensively to NMC’s new HiFi content management system, blogged about various technical topics, and written several popular jQuery plugins.

Patrick Clarke - Developer
Patrick is originally from Syracuse, NY and has been firmly rooted in the Triangle for the better part of nine years. At New Media Campaigns he spends his day building and maintaining websites on our current content management system and now HiFi. He came to NMC after working with several different local companies as contract print designer, web designer and developer.
Patrick has worked in webspace in various forms since 1996 and was an award-winning collegiate newspaper designer while attending N.C. State University. In 2006, he was a design intern at both the Detroit Free Press and St. Petersburg Times. Using the experiences and skills gained from college and the internships he honed his skills in front-end development with emphasis on using content management systems, specializing on ExpressionEngine.
Outside of NMC, Patrick is a regular at Carolina Hurricanes hockey games and finds time to lace up his skates on the weekends. He also lends his time and skills to ModernFilmFest, a startup film festival in Kannapolis, NC as well as other fun side-projects. You can him and his side-projects on his website.
Jonathan Hungate - Business Development, Project Manager
Jonathan is responsible for developing new business relationships and partnering with NMC clients to launch and manage their web projects. Prior to joining New Media Campaigns he held various web-focused marketing positions where he served in a number of roles, from design and programming to strategy and consultation. Most recently, he led the marketing efforts for a prominent North Carolina law firm.
Jonathan moved to Raleigh more than 10 years ago to attend North Carolina State University and graduated with a degree in Business Management and an Information Technology concentration.

Alex Pomer - Project Manager, Online Media Buyer
Born and raised in Greensboro, NC, Alex is a Project Manager at New Media Campaigns and the lead Online Media Buyer. During his time at NMC, he has successfully launched local, statewide and national political campaign websites as well as dozens of corporation, educational and non-profit websites. He has also managed major online ad buys for several political campaigns.
A social media, SEO and marketing strategist, he works closely with the NMC technical staff to prepare sites for launch, making sure all adjustments are in line with the client's online communication strategies.
Outside of the office, Alex spends his time playing tennis, writing trivia questions for a local gig, and debating whether or not to buy an iPad. Megan Winterhalter - Marketing Assistant and Copywriter
Megan, a Pennsylvania native, originally joined the NMC team as the advertising and marketing intern while attending UNC-Chapel Hill in 2009. While interning with NMC, Megan spearheaded the creation of the portfolio and several case studies for newmediacampaigns.com, while also assisting in launching several websites for NMC clients. Megan then spent time working in the creative department of McKinney in Durham, NC where she did copywriting for Fortune 500 brands. She has now returned to NMC to assist in the marketing and communications for the company as well as client projects, specifically helping clients craft web-ready and optimized content. Zach Clayton - Board
Zach, a Raleigh native, earned an MBA from Harvard Business School where he was a Baker Scholar. Previously, as a partner in The Resources Group, Zach created advertising campaigns and managed strategic communications for clients, including Deutsche Bank, EchoStar Communications, Blue Cross Blue Shield Association of America, and NewsCorp. Zach has written for The Hotline, authored two books, and appeared on CNN, MSNBC, and FOX News. Zach holds a BA from UNC Chapel Hill where he was a Morehead Scholar. Connect with Zach on LinkedIn.
