Looking Ahead to Hopscotch Design Fest

Why The Best Design Conference is in Your Back Yard

September 8, 2015
Design, NMC
Tomorrow is Hopscotch Design Fest and we are psyched! Five New Media Campaign team members will descend on downtown Raleigh for the second year of this game-changing event.

Hopscotch Design Fest is the brain child of the sharp folks over at New Kind in partnership with the Hopscotch Music Festival. Matt Munoz, chief design officer at New Kind, saw an opportunity to add value to and capitalize on the triangle’s position as a leader in technology and design. It was an elegant maneuver and filled a hole we in the Triangle design community did not know existed. It is the design conference I look most forward to each year.

Hopscotch Design Fest is a diverse cross section of many of the disciplines that engage designers: film, government, entrepreneurs, design and technology agencies, educators, business, fashion and the list goes on. This is important because being a designer is no longer about typography and logos. Design is a way of thinking and approaching problems. More and more companies are adding design positions to their payroll in a effort to keep pace with the way consumers are interacting with their products. This festival gives an accurate view of the breadth of the design field and how it is evolving.

But as we like to say at our Raleigh AIGA chapter meetings, Hopscotch Design Fest is done the “Raleigh” way. This means you can expect to drink the best micro brews, eat from the tastiest new food trucks and make great new friends at the killer parties. We are looking at a 1:1 of quality and quantity.

It should be a fun time and if you're there, be sure to come up and say hi.

Added bonus: I’ll be competing Inkwars against the my NMC teammate, the talented Ashley Morgan at the Design Block Party on Harrington Street Wednesday, Sept. 9. Festivities begin at 5 PM, competition starts at 6:30
