Public School Foundation

Launched:December 3, 2010 Visit:publicschoolfoundation.org

The Chapel Hill – Carrboro Public School Foundation approached New Media Campaigns after reading a feature of the company in the Raleigh News & Observer. The organization had never had their own site and had just used a section of the district’s site – they felt now was the time to craft their own online identity, so they enlisted New Media to design both a logo and a website.

The new site New Media delivered helps establish PSF as an important local organization that benefits the area. For the design of the site and logo, New Media wanted to drive home that sense of community and the importance of education.  In the logoNew Media created for the foundation, the mark depicts two hands shaking, symbolizing the relationship PSF seeks to foster between the school district and the community.  Similarly, the final site design uses imagery associated with education to balance the professionalism of the foundation with the true meaning of their mission.

The top-level navigation neatly organizes PSF’s large volume of content, a shortcoming of their original website. The homepage also features an image and text rotation that highlights PSF’s goal of supporting public schools in the Chapel Hill – Carrboro district. The highly visible Donate button is integrated directly with the media rotation, speaking to PSF’s main goal of fundraising.

The site is managed through New Media’s content management system, HiFi, allowing the foundation to easily update and edit content, as well as manage applications for grants and scholarships.
