Changing a URL
The Content Management System automatically sets up the URL for newly created pages to match (as close as possible) the page's Title. However, if you change the page's Title, the URL will NOT automatically change. To change the URL of a page, you'll need to follow the simple directions below:
Note: Changing a page's URL will break any link that was going to the previous URL so be sure to change links on other pages so that they match the new URL.
- Click on the "Search Engine Optimization" link beneath the title.
- You will see several fields appear, one of which, the "URL:" field, contains your URL.
- Simply type in the URL you want (only letters, numbers, dashes and underscores please!) and click Save at the bottom of the page.
If your URL has a number, for example, "changing-a-url1" then that means that the page with the URL "changing-a-url" already exists and the Content Management System is creating the next best thing.
