APPCNC

APPCNC came to New Media Campaigns looking for an informative, engaging site that would support their mission to prevent teen pregnancies.  This local non-profit dedicates themselves to strengthening and supporting education, healthcare, and family and community support in North Carolina.  Since APPCNC believes lowering the number of adolescent pregnancies heavily relies on collaboration, advocacy, and education, they needed a site that would not only provide the right information to the right people but connect with these different audiences and inspire them to take action.

With this in mind, NMC equipped the site with various interactive elements and organized the content so that visitors can easily find relevant information.  The Resources page is broken into sections catered to the different audiences: young people, young parents, medical professionals, schools, and parents.  This section informs individuals of their role in the solving this issue and provides them with the right tools and information to effectively contribute.

The site also organizes information by location.  Visitors can search for local clinics by entering their zip code into the local clinic finder.  Additionally, NMC custom built an interactive map that allows visitors to find data specific to their county including:

    • Pregnancy statistics
    • STD data by county
    • Local health policies
    • Helpful local organizations

The News section keeps visitors informed with articles relevant to the issue as well as blog posts offering different perspectives and experiences.  APPCNC can easily update the site by posting in this blog, which is also displayed on the homepage news feed.

APPCNC has already made a significant impact in North Carolina, contributing to the over 50% decline in teen pregnancy since 1990, and aims to reduce the teen pregnancy rate by another 30% by 2020.  This website is sure to help APPCNC reach their goal by informing more people and encouraging support for their cause.
