It's a Bad Idea

Going Viral

The North Carolina Association of Realtors came to New Media Campaigns when they wanted to launch an issue campaign against a proposed homeowners transfer tax. They knew they wanted to make their website a central component of the campaign.

New Media built a media center to highlight the campaign's candid videos that capture citizens' opinions on the proposed tax. Also, the site came with plenty of viral capabilities, including "send to your friend" and "contact your legislator" functionalities, which allow visitors to perpetuate the site's message.

The campaign also made quick use of New Media's blast email capabilities by sending more than 60,000 emails within the first month of the campaign. The campaign is off to a successful start gaining multiple front page stories in North Carolina's largest newspaper, the News & Observer, and showing no signs of slowing down.
